Dear Residents and Families:

Last week we had our second round of Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations. I’m happy to report that the majority of our residents and many of our employees have elected to get the vaccine. By the time everyone has the opportunity to get the vaccine, after our third round scheduled for  March 31, over 90% of our residents will have received it either here at Las Fuentes or through an outside provider. Yesterday Las Fuentes Resort Village completed the first round of COVID-19 Moderna vaccines in partnership with CVS pharmacy. Almost all of our residents and staff were vaccinated. It was a day of celebration and happiness!

We believe our mission is to provide life changing service. That’s the goal and guiding principle in everything we do. Towards that end, as of today we are pleased to report that we currently have no positive COVID residents in our Independent or Assisted Living communities. Read more

COVID-19 Vaccine News

January 7, 2021

Dear Residents and Families:

Many of you have asked for an update regarding our COVID-19 cases and the status of COVID vaccinations.

As we reported on December 29, following the Spectrum COVID tests, less than 10 residents had positive results. All residents who tested positive were asked to quarantine for fourteen days. We can report that the majority of those quarantined are now safely out of quarantine.

As of today, we have three residents that have tested Positive and are on 14 day quarantines in the entire building and none in our assisted living building. There are others that are on cautionary quarantines that have not tested positive for COVID. We also have three employees who are on quarantine.

Our hearts are full for all residents and their families who have had a loved one pass due to COVID and for any reason recently and in the past year.

In an email I received yesterday from Omnicare, the company who will be administrating the vaccine to us through CVS pharmacy, we were notified that:

The COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at your facility, Las Fuentes Resort Village, has not been scheduled at this time. The state of Arizona has activated the Long-Term Care Vaccination Program only for skilled nursing facilities.

As the activation status of the federal vaccine program in your state changes, we will inform you of those updates. Rest assured that we are monitoring each state’s activation status daily, and your facility, Las Fuentes Resort Village, is on our list for upcoming onsite clinics once the program is activated for this facility.

In an article today reported by CNBC, CVS Health and Walgreens said they expect to complete the first round of COVID vaccinations in nursing homes and assisted living facilities by January 25. Other key points are:

  • Vaccinating residents and staff at nursing homes and assisted living facilities is one of the first major steps in the nationwide rollout.
  • CVS said it has confronted a couple of challenges during the program, including lower-than-expected uptake in staff.
  • The vaccine rollout has been slower than federal officials anticipated, but CVS and Walgreens said their effort is ramping up quickly.

We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available. We hope we will have the vaccinations by the end of the month. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact the front desk, Ashley James or myself directly.

Las Fuentes COVID-19 Update

December 1, 2020

Many of you have seen news about the uptick in the COVID positive cases in the country.  We have recently learned that two staff members and one resident have tested positive for the virus.  Neither employee has been in the building since November 22. The resident is currently out of the building.

The employees are currently quarantining at home, and their return to work dates will be determined following guidance from the local health department and CDC.

We are currently awaiting test kits from Yavapai County in order to perform COVID testing on residents and staff.  However, we continue to monitor and assess residents and staff for symptoms of COVID.  Should we note any changes in condition, we do have a limited availability of test kits to do immediate on-site testing.

We will immediately inform residents, resident primary care providers and responsible parties/families with test results of residents and discuss next steps.  We will also provide a general update on the result of the widespread testing.

We continue to encourage residents (and urge families to encourage residents) to take all precautions to prevent or mitigate the spread of the virus by:

  • Wearing masks when outside of their apartments;
  • Engaging in good hand hygiene; and
  • Practicing social distancing when outside of their apartments.

As a result of these positive cases, we are implementing (or re-implementing) the following restrictions to prevent or mitigate the spread of the virus:

  • All Assisted Living resident visitation closed except for compassionate care visits and essential medical personnel.
  • AL dining service limited to resident apartments only
  • Off-site transportation appointments suspended

We anticipate these steps to be in place for at least 28 days to keep residents and staff safe.

Information Regarding Visitation

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

On March 14, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services advised of a nationwide restriction on visitation for certain health facilities, due to the coronavirus. Though these restrictions were drafted for skilled nursing facilities, they address risks similar to those posed to other senior living communities. CMS has directed that only health care workers or end-of life visitors be allowed to visit the community during this time. Until further notice, we will follow this direction, and will not permit non-essential visitors. We continue to encourage virtual visitation by phone, FaceTime, Skype, etc. It is important for you to remain connected with your loved one, and we will be happy to work with you to accomplish this in the absence of an in-person visit.
